Bluetooth services

The Bluetooth specification is a protocol that describes how the short-range wireless technology works, whereas individual profiles describe the services supported by individual devices. Profiles reduce the chance that different devices will not work together. The following Service profiles are available:

Headset: The remote Bluetooth headset enables outgoing and incoming calls.

Handsfree: The remote Bluetooth car kit enables outgoing and incoming calls.

Serial port: The remote Bluetooth device acts as a virtual serial port.

Dial up networking: The remote Bluetooth device enables Internet access through a phone modem.

File transfer: The remote Bluetooth device enables users to transfer files from their handset to others.

Object push: The remote Bluetooth device enables the transfer of personal data (e.g. vCard, vCalendar, etc.) to other devices.

Security

The Security menu (Menu 9.7) enables you to restrict the use of your phone to others and the types of calls.Various codes and passwords are used to protect the features of your phone. They are described in the following sections. Also see “Access Codes” on page 141.

PIN Check

When the PIN Check feature is enabled, you must enter your PIN each time you switch the phone on. Consequently, any person who does not have your PIN cannot use your phone without your approval.

Note: Before disabling the PIN Check feature, you must enter your PIN.
