MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLE-SHOOTING

Most treadmill problems can be solved byfollowing the simple steps below. Iffurther assistance is

PROBLEM: The power does not turn on
SOLUT.10N: a.Make surethat the power cordis plugged !nto a surge suppressor, and that the surge suppressor
isplugged intoa properlygrounded outlet (_seepage 8). Use only asingle-outletsurge suppressor
that is UL 1449 listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS). The surge suppressor
must have aUL suppressed voltage ratingof 400 volts or lessand a minimumsurge dissipation
of 450 joules.The surge suppressor must be electdcally ratedfor 120 voltsAC and 15 amps.
b. After the power cord has been pluggedin, make sure that the key isfully insertedinto the con-
sole. (See step 1 on page 9.)
c. Check the circuit breaker located onthe treadmill
near the power cord. If the switchprotrudes as
shown, the circuit breaker has tripped;.To reset the
circuit breaker, wait for five minutes and then press
the switchback in.
d. Check the on/off sw_ch located onthe treadmill
near the power cord.The switch mustbe in the "on"
position.

SOLUTION: a. Check the circuitbreaker located on the treadmill frame near the power cord (see 1. c. above). If
the circuitbreaker has tripped, wait for five minutes andthen pressthe switch back in.
b. Make sure that the power cord isplugged in.
c. Remove the key from the console. Reinsert the key fully intothe console. (See step 1 on page 9.)
d. Make sure that the on/off switch is in the =on" position. (See 1. d. above.)
PROBLEM: The displays of the console do not function properly
SOLUTION: a. Remove the six screws from the hood.Carefully re-
move the hood. Locate the Reed Switch (86) and the
Magnet (87) on the left side of the Pulley (85). Turn
the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned withthe Reed
Switch. Make sure that the gap between the
Magnet and the Reed Switch isabout 118". If nec,
essary, loosenthe Screw-(35) and move theReed
Switch slightly.Retighten the Screw. Re-attach the
hood, and run the treadmill for a few minutes to check
for a correct speed reading.
