Der SZI 1015-T ist ein Infrarot-Leistungsstrahler mit integriertem Steuersender. Innerhalb einer drahtlosen Infrarot-Tonübertragungsanlage hat er die Aufgabe, das von einer NF-Quelle gelieferte elektrische Signal in unsichtbares Infrarotlicht umzuwandeln und abzustrahlen. Im Gegensatz zur Funkstrecke bleibt die Übertragung auf einen Raum begrenzt, so daß problemlos weitere Anlagen in benachbarten Räumen betrieben werden können.
