About the modem

My internal modem does not work

❑Check that the phone line is plugged into your computer.

❑Check that the phone line is working. You can check the line by plugging in an ordinary phone and listening for a dial tone.

❑Check that the phone number the program is dialing, is correct.

❑Windows® 2000 Professional: In the Phone and Modem Options dialog box (Control Panel / Phone and Modem Options), check that your modem is listed on the Modems tab, and that the location information is correct on the Dialing Rules tab.

❑Windows® Millennium Edition: In the Modems Properties dialog box (Control Panel / Modems*), check that your modem is listed in the General tab, and that the location information is correct on the Dialing Properties tab.

* Windows® Millennium Edition: If you do not see the Modems icon, proceed as follows:

1In Control Panel click Tools and click Folder Options…

2Select the View tab.

3In the Advanced settings: dialog box, select the option Display all Control Panel options and all folder contents.

4Click OK.

My modem cannot establish a connection

The modem dialing mode may be incompatible with your telephone line.
