• Make sure that the audio/video cable is
connected properly to A/V OUT of the
video device.
• The DVDirect is not detecting input signals
from the connected video device. Turn on
the video device, and configure or operate
it to start playback.
• Make sure that a correct input type is
selected. Select [VIDEO IN] of [Video b
DVD] in [Menu].
The number of discs required does
not appear on the screen when
recording.
• If many videos are recorded, display may
take some time.
A disc inserted in the DVDirect can
be heard spinning momentarily.
• The DVDirect checks the disc and performs
a read operation. This is not a malfunction.
“ ” appears on images in Copying
Visual Index Lists mode.
• You cannot record the image to which
“ ” is displayed.
Other video devices do not play back
a created SD (Standard Definition)
disc.
• The disc may not be finalized. Use the
DVDirect and finalize the disc first (page
68).
• Some video devices may not work properly
with certain created disc types.
• Your video device may not support the disc
type (e.g., DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD+R
DL). Check if your video device supports
the disc type.
• You need a CPRM-enabled player to play
back CPRM-compatible DVD-RW and
DVD-R discs.
Other video devices do not playback
the created HD (High Definition) disc.
• A generic DVD player cannot playback HD
(High Definition) discs. You need an
AVCHD-compatible player (e.g., Blu-ray
Disc player/recorder) to playback HD discs
(page 81).
Other video devices do not playback
the created photo disc.
• You need a video device capable of playing
JPEG files.
When playing a slideshow disc,
picture noise appears.
• The picture quality of the photos played
back in a slideshow is equivalent to that of
video discs. Using a DVD player capable of
playing JPEG files, higher quality photos
can be played.
Unusable disc inserted. Insert a
compatible disc.
• An incompatible disc is inserted. Insert a
compatible disc (page 75).
• DVD-RW or DVD+RW discs recorded on
other video devices are not supported.
Erase videos or photos recorded on a disc
with [Erase disc] of [Setup] in [Menu]. The
erased disc is reusable as a blank disc (page
68).
No input signal.
• Connector may not be selected correctly.
Select input connection to a video device
with [Video b DVD] in [Menu].
• The DVDirect cannot detect input signals

connected video device. Operate the video
device to start video playback.
