NOTICE: The Canadian Department of Communications label identifies certified equipment . This certification m eans that the
equipment meets certain telecommunications network protective, operational and safety requirements. The Department does not
guarantee the equipment will operate to the user's sati sfaction.

Before installing this equipment, users should ensure that it is permissib le to be connec ted t o the faciliti es of th e local telecom-
munications company. The equipment must also b e installed usin g an acceptab le method of connec tion. In some c ases, the
company’s inside wiring associated with a single line individual service may be extended by means of a certified connector as-
sembly (telephone extension cord). The customer sh ould be aware t hat complia nce with th e above condit ions may not prevent
degradation of service in some situations.
Repairs to certified equipment should be made by an aut hor ized Canadi an ma int enance f aci lity des ign ated b y the su ppli er. Any
repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company
cause to request the user to disconnect the equip m ent.
Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power ut i lity, telephone lines and inter-
nal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connec ted together. This precaution may be particularly imp or tant in rural areas.
Caution: Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contac t the approp riate electri c inspecti on
authority, or electrician, as appropriate.
''The Ringer Equivalence Number is an indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a
telephone interface. The termination on an interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the re-
quirement that the sum of the Ringer Equivalence Numbers of all the devices does not exceed five.''

NOTIFICATION TO THE TELEPHONE COMPANY
Before you may connect your telephone you must notify the telephone company of particular line(s)to which such connections is
to be made, and provided to the telephone compan y the FCC registration number and ringer equivalen ce number of the registered
protective circuitry. The customer shall give notice to the telephone company upon final disconnection of such equipment or
circuitry from the particular line(s).

Malfunction Of Telephone

In the event that your telephone fails to work properly during your ownership and use of it, you should disconnect it from the
telephone line to determine if it is your phone that is not working properly or if it is a problem in the telephone company's net-
work. If the problem is with your telephone you should discontinue its use until it is repaired.

Telephone Connection Requirements

Except for telephone company- provided ringers, all connections to the telephone network shall be made through standard tele-
phone company provided jacks, in such a manner as to allow for easy and immediate disconnection of the terminal equipment.
Standard jacks shall be so arranged that if the plug conn ected th ereto is with drawn, n o interferenc e to the operati on of the
equipment at the customer's premises which remains connected to the telephone net work shall occur by reason of such with-
drawal. These telephones may not be used on party lines or coin operated lines.

Changes In Telephone Company Equipment Or Facilities

The telephone company is entitled to make changes in its faci liti es equip ment , opera ti ons, and proc edur es. Sh ould these c han ges
be expected to render your terminal equipment incompatib le with the t elepho ne compan y's fac iliti es you will be gi ven suff icien t
notice to allow you to make the necessary modification to your terminal equipment without any interruption of your service.
