Extra hard disk drive space required when upgrading to a Mirrored RAID configuration

You must have 100 MB of free unpartitioned disk space at the end of the hard disk drive if you want to upgrade to a mirrored RAID configuration.

Upgrade path for data merging

The only upgrade path that supports data merging is from a single disk to a mirror. This is a limitation of the LSI card. If you want to upgrade from a single disk to an IME (Integrated Mirror Extension) or an IMS (Integrated Mirror Stripe), the data and OS will be lost and a reinstallation and restore will be required.
