Chapter 4: BIOS

Type

This feature allows the user to select the type of IDE hard drive. Select Auto to allow the BIOS to automatically determine the hard drive's capacity, number of heads, etc.). Enter a number from 1-39 to select a predetermined type of hard drive, CDROM and ATAPI Removable. Select User to allow the user to enter the parameters of the HDD installed at this connection. Select CDROM if a CDROM drive is installed. Select ATAPI if a removable disk drive is installed.

CHS Format

The following items will be displayed by the BIOS:

TYPE: This item displays the type of CPU.

Cylinders: This item indicates the status of Cylinders.

Headers: This item indicates the number of headers.

Sectors: This item displays the number of sectors.

Maximum Capacity: This item displays the maximum storage capacity of the system.

LBA Format

The following items will be displayed by the BIOS:

Total Sectors: This item displays the number of total sectors available in the

LBA Format.

Maximum Capacity: This item displays the maximum capacity in the LBA

Format.

Multi-Sector Transfer

This item allows the user to specify the number of sectors per block to be used in multi-sector transfer. The options are Disabled, 4 Sectors, 8 Sectors and 16 Sectors.

LBA Mode Control

This item determines whether the Phoenix BIOS will access the IDE Channel 0 Master Device via the LBA mode. The options are Enabled and Disabled.

32 Bit I/O

This option allows the user to enable or disable the function of 32-bit data transfer. The options are Enabled and Disabled.
