Chapter 8: DVD Playback

Playing a disc

Be sure to set the MODE SELECT switch on the remote control to TV mode when using the Built-In DVD input.

Basic playback DVD VCD CD

1 Press pon the TV or on the remote control to turn on the TV.

Press +on the remote control or INPUT on the TV to select the Built-In DVD mode.

2 The DVD startup screen will appear on the screen.

3 Load the disc in the disc slot with the label side facing forward. (If the disc has a label.) Hold the disc without touching either of its surfaces, align it with the guides, and place it in position.

Note: When inserting a disc into the DVD disc slot, do not jam or force it strongly, otherwise the TV may malfunction or the disc might be damaged. If left with half the disc inserted, the disc will be loaded automatically.

4 “READING” appears on the screen, then playback starts.

A menu screen will appear on the TV screen, if the disc

has a title menu. Press BbCcto select title, then press T. Title is selected and play commences.

5 Press zZto adjust the volume.

Note: When using an amplifier, adjust the volume with the amplifier.

6 Press Dto end playback.

Resume feature

Depending on the disc you are playing, when you press D

one time, the TV memorizes the location where playback is stopped. Press Sto resume the playback from the stopped location.

If you press D again or eject the disc, the TV will clear the stopped location.

Auto Play feature

If you load a disc when the TV is off, the TV will power on and playback will commence automatically. However, loading the disc may take 1-2 seconds.

About the Parental Lock screen

If the Parental Lock YES/NO screen appears after loading a disc and you want to temporarily unlock the Parental Lock, select “YES” and then input the PIN CODE following the on- screen menu. (The Parental Lock YES/NO screen may be repeated two times depending on the disc.)

Note:

Some unlocked discs may not resume playback after the input source has been changed.

If you stop and restart playback, a message may appear on the screen. In this case, please eject the disc and reload it.

If you are unable to proceed from the Parental Lock screen, please eject the disc and reload it.

CAUTION

Never insert your finger into the disc hole when loading a disc into the disc slot.

Keep your fingers well clear of the disc slot when a disc is loading or unloading. Neglecting to do so may cause personal injury.

Because of problems and errors that can occur during the creation of DVD and CD software and/or the manufacture of DVD and CD discs, Toshiba cannot assure that the DVD player contained in this television will successfully play every disc bearing the DVD and CD logos.
