Using the closed caption feature

The closed caption feature has two options: captions or text. A caption is a printed version of the dialogue, narration, and/or sound effects of a program.Text is information not related to the program (such as stock or weather reports) that appears on- screen (when provided by individual stations).

To turn off the closed-captioned feature:

Select OFF in step 4 above.

Note:

A closed-captioned signal may not be decoded in the following situations:

When a videotape has been dubbed.

When the signal reception is weak.

When the signal reception is non-standard.

If you select one of the Closed Caption Text modes and text is not available, a black rectangle may appear on your screen. If this happens, set the Closed Caption feature to OFF.
