automatically adapt to the user’s selection, making the specific Xmodem protocol selection arbitrary. The first argument of the xmodem command indicates the mode, and must be set to either “/crc” for xmodem CRC mode, or “/cs” for xmodem checksum mode.

As mentioned above, point files can be downloaded and uploaded. The second argument in the xmodem command indicates the action to take, and must be set to either “/d” to download the point configuration file from the ETH- 100, or “/u” to upload a point file configuration to the ETH-100.

Figure 16 shows an example of initiating an xmodem download in CRC mode. Once the message “The ETH-100 is ready to send its point file via xmodem…Download the file now” appears, the user has 30 seconds to start the xmodem download. This can be performed in HyperTerminal by clicking the “receive” button on the tool bar. Figure 17 shows the dialog box that will appear after clicking the “receive” button. Specify the folder in which to place the received file, select xmodem as the receiving protocol, and click “Receive”. One last dialog box will ask the user to name the received file, and then the transfer will begin.
