For normal homeowner use, the muffler and
spark arresting screen will not require any
service.
After 50 hours of use, we recommend that
yourmuffler be s erviced or replaced by an au-
thorized service dealer.
ASSEMBLY
WARNING: If rec eived assembled,
repeatall steps to ensure your unit is pr operly
assembled and all fasteners are secure.
Examine parts for damage. Do not use dam-
agedpar ts.
NOTE:I f you need assistance or find parts

It is normal for the fuel filter to rattle in the
empty fuel tank.
Findingfuel or oil residue on muffler is normal
due to carburetor adjustments and testing
doneby t he manufacturer.

ADJUSTING THE HANDLE

WARNING: When adjus ting the assist
handle,be sure it remains above the s afety label
and below the mark or arrow on the shaft.
1. Loosen wing nut on handle.
2. Rotate the handle onth e shaft to anupr ight
position; retighten wing nut.

ATTACH ING SHI ELD

WARNING : The shield must be prop-
erlyinstalled. The s hieldprovides partial protec-
tion to the operator and others from the risk of
thrown objects, and is equipped with a line limit-
er blade which cuts excess line to the proper
length. The line limiter blade (on underside of
shield) is sharp and can cut you.

1. Removewing nut from s hield.
2. Insertbrac ket into slot as shown.
3. Pivotshield until bolt pass es through hole
inbr acket.
4. Securely tighten wing nut onto bolt.
