To.change.a.drill.bit.or.sanding.drum,. do.
these.steps:
1. UNPLUG.THE.DRILL.PRESS!
2.. Use the chuck key to remove the old drill
bit, and open the chuck wide enough to
accept the new bit or the sanding drum
mandrel(seeFigure.33).
3.. Installthebitormandrelsothechuck jaws
will grab as much of the bit or mandrel
shank as it can.
•If you are installing a small drill bit, make
sureitisheldbetweenthreejawsinstead
ofonlytwo,andNEVERallowachuck to
grab the fluted body of drill bits.
4.. Using any of the three key locations,
tighten the chuck with the chuck key and
remove.the.key(seeFigure.34).
