WARMING UP ENGINE

1) Before beginning operation, allow the engine to warm up at idling speed for 3 minutes. (Failure to do this will shorten engine life.)

2) Check for a steady flow of water from the cooling-water pilot hole.

A continuous flow of water from the pilot hole shows that the water pump is pumping water through the cooling pas- sages. If water is not flowing out of the

pilot hole at all times while the engine isrunning, do not continue to run theengine. Overheating and serious damagecould occur. Stop the engine and check

309034 to see if the water inlet on the lower casing is blocked. If the problem cannot be found and corrected, consult your Yamaha dealer.
