Maintaining
Your Snow
Thrower
WARNING
Run the engine completely dry of gasoline before tipping snowthrower.
NEVER replace the auger shear pins with standard hex pins. Any damage to the auger gearbox or other components as a result of failing to do so will NOT be covered by your snow thrower’s warranty.

WARNING: Run the engine com- pletely dry of gasoline before tipping snowthrower.
To remove and replace your snow thrower’s auger belt, proceed as follows:
1.Remove the plastic belt cover on the front of the engine by removing the two
2Carefully pivot the snow thrower up and forward so that it rests on the auger housing. See Figure
3.Remove the frame cover from the underside of the snow thrower by removing four
4.a. Roll the auger belt off the engine pulley.
b.Use a wrench to pivot the idler pulley toward the right. See Figure
c.Lift the drive belt off engine pulley.
5.Back out the stop bolt until the support bracket rests on the auger pulley. See Figure
6.Slip the drive belt off the pulley and between friction wheel and drive plate. See Figure
7.Remove and replace belt in the reverse order.
NOTE: Repeat the drive control adjustment on page 12 before operating the snowthrower.
Friction Wheel Removal
If the snow thrower fails to drive with the drive control engaged, and performing the drive control cable adjust- ment on page 12 fails to correct the problem, the friction wheel may need to be replaced. Follow the instructions below. Examine the friction wheel for signs of wear or cracking and replace if necessary.

4.Carefully remove the hex nut and washer which secures the hex shaft to the snow thrower frame and lightly tap the shaft’s end to dislodge the ball bearing from the right side of the frame. See Figure
5.Carefully position the hex shaft downward and to the left before carefully sliding the friction wheel assembly off the shaft. See Figure
