This software enables you to write directly to CD media using the drive letter as you would if you were writing to a diskette. With DLA, you can drag-and-drop files, create new directories, or save files from almost any application directly to your Combo drive.

vUDF Reader

This software enables you to read DLA CD-RW media on other computers with CD drives.

vIntervideo WinDVD

This software enables you to play back DVD videos on your computer or to play video files from your hard disk drive.

Note: Some graphics adapters such as the FIREGL, Intergroup, and 3dLabs, do not support DVD video playback.

Installation requirements

Be sure that your computer meets the following system requirements before installing the drive:

vMinimum microprocessor:

Intel® Pentium® 133 MHz

Intel Pentium II 233 MHz for DVD playback

vMinimum RAM: 32 MB

vWindows 2000, Windows Me, Windows XP Home, or Windows XP Professional operating system

vAn available half high drive bay

vAn available Serial ATA connection

v40 MB available hard drive space

v700 MB available hard drive space for CD copy function

vAudio solution supporting 44.1 or 48 kHz sampling rate

vOptional stereo speakers

v2X AGP video with overlay support for DVD playback

Before you begin

Before you install the CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combination Drive, read the information in this section on handling precautions and on using the drive controls and connectors.

Handling precautions

Use the following handling precautions to protect your drive:

vKeep the CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combination Drive in the antistatic bag until you are ready to install the drive. Limit your movement when installing; movement can cause static electricity buildup.

vHandle the drive with care. Dropping or jarring the drive can damage the components inside the drive housing.

vDo not force insertion of the Serial ATA or power cables.
