Agency Approvals/Standards

This section lists the following agency approvals and standards for safety:

Safety—CSA Certified to UL 60950-1 and CSA 22.2 No. 60950-1, ACA to AS/NZS 60950,

CB Certificate/Test Report to IEC 60950-1, edition 1 (2001) with all country deviations, as well as to EN 60950-1

Lithium Backup Battery

Cisco 1840 routers have an internal real time clock with battery backup. The backup battery is a socketed lithium battery. This battery lasts the life of the router under the operating environmental conditions specified for the router, and is not field replaceable.

Note Although the lithium battery is not intended to be field replaceable, the safety agencies require the following warning be included in this document.

Warning There is the danger of explosion if the battery is replaced incorrectly. Replace the battery only with the same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Statement 1015

Operating Conditions for Canada

In addition to the warnings and safety guidelines listed in the “Translated Safety Warnings” section on page 14 in this document, the following operating conditions apply to routers used in Canada:

The Canadian Department of Communications label identifies certified equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications network protective operational and safety requirements. The Department does not guarantee that the equipment will operate to the user’s satisfaction.
