Changing the surround mode parameters

Each surround mode is made up of a number of parameters. These parameters can be changed to optimize the reproduced surround sound according to your room size, listening environment, playback source type, taste, etc. Once parameters are set, they will be recalled automatically every time the same surround mode is selected. The parameters available in each surround mode vary depending on the surround mode.

Note:

In the STEREO mode, you cannot perform parameter setting.

*The Cinema Re-EQ function is not available in the DOLBY DIGITAL STEREO mode.

Using the Cinema Re-Equalization (Cinema Re-EQ) function

Re-Equalization takes the edginess or "brighteness" out of your home cinema sound, compensating for the fact that sound mixed for theaters will sound too bright when played back throuth speakers in the home environment.

Press the Re-EQ button on the unit's front panel.

The CINEMA Re-EQ indicator appears on the display.

To cancel the Cinema Re-EQ function...

Press the Re-EQ button again.

Using the Midnight Theater function

This function is useful for playing at midnight. In the Midnight Theater mode, the dynamic range of sound is narrowed to reproduce comfortable sounds at low sound volumes (DOLBY DIGITAL mode only).

Press the MIDNIGHT THEATER button on the unit's front panel.

The MIDNIGHT THEATER indicator appears on the display.

To cancel the Midnight Theater function...

Press the MIDNIGHT THEATER button again.

Using the LFE (Low Frequency Effects) function

In the LFE mode, the low-frequency range is attenuated by 10 dB to reduce overemphasized bass sound (DOLBY DIGITAL mode only).

In the following procedure, use the front panel buttons.

1.Press the SURROUND button and then rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER to select "DOLBY DIGITAL".

2. Press the PARAMETER button and then rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER counterclockwise to display "Surround Setup".

3. Press the ENTER button to display "LFE Att.".

4.Rotate the SMART SCAN CONTROLLER clockwise or counter clockwise to select "-10 dB".

To restore the initial value, select "0 dB".
