Overview

The SMPTE 269M Fault Reporting system, also known as a SMPTE “alarm,” provides an indication if one or more frame cards encounter a fault or an abnormal condition. This option is available when an MFC-8310 or MFC-8310-N is installed in the Frame Controller Slot. The MFC-8310 is included if the frame has cooling fans in the front door. The individual card(s) can report fault conditions to the MFC-8310(-N) frame controller card, which in turn outputs to a BNC connector on the openGearTM 8310 series frame. When the frame connection is interfaced with a customer-designed system of LEDs or audible alarms, faults can be traced to a specific frame when a card fault occurs within that frame.
