Appendix C Updating the Software

Web Browser Because the AXIS 540/640 supports the HTTP protocol over Support TCP/IP, you may download the latest software releases directly from

the Software Upgrade Page.

To display the Software Upgrade Page simply click the ‘Software upgrade’ link within the Management Page. By following the instruction provided you may then automatically initiate a file transfer between the Axis Public Archive Server and your workstation. Once the transfer is complete, you should then download this image file to the AXIS 540/640 using FTP, as described in Upgrading over the Network using FTP, on page 107.

Your dealer Contact your dealer to check if there have been any new releases of the software. You should have your present version number ready to compare against the latest software release.

Upgrading the Software

There are three methods with which to update to the AXIS 540/640

Flash memory:

• through the parallel port LPT1, or

• using the AXIS NetPilot, or

over the network using FTP on a TCP/IP network The preferred methods are described below.

Note: Updating instructions are also supplied with the software update.

through the necessary procedures, simply click on the Upgrade icon of the AXIS NetPilot Toolbar to display the Upgrade Wizard menu.
