Precautions

Postpone digital voice modem installation until there is no risk of thunderstorm or lightning activity in the area.

To avoid damaging the digital voice modem with static electricity:

Always first connect the coaxial cable to the grounded cable TV wall outlet.

Before you connect or disconnect the USB or Ethernet cable from your digital voice modem or PC, always touch the coaxial cable connector on the digital voice modem to release any static charges.

Caution

Contact your cable provider before connecting your digital voice modem to your existing telephone wiring. Do not connect the telephone wire to a traditional telephone (PSTN) service.
