SPECIAL FE A T U R E S

Using TONE

You may often need to use tone signals to perform special operations by phone. Bank-by- phone and voice mail are two examples of systems that require tone signals.

To find out whether you have pulse or tone service, see page 2.6. If you have pulse service, you can still send tone signals by following these steps:

1

Dial the number using pulse dialing.

2

When the remote phone answers, press TONE.

Any numbers you press now will be sent by tone, not pulse, for the remainder of the call.

Using MUTE

If you mute a call during voice communication, you can hear the other party, but they cannot hear you.

1

Press MUTE while on the

phone.

2

Press MUTE again to resume the conversation.

4 MUTE turns off both the handset and the microphone when you are talking to someone. Press this button if you don’t want the other person to hear what you’re saying or if you are in a very noisy environment.
