Preliminary knowledge

1OPEN/CLOSE button (19) Opens and closes the disc tray.

2Numeric buttons (11, 25)

Mainly used to select a title/track number or a TV channel. Also used to enter a time for the Time search and a chapter number for the Chapter search.

3ANGLE button (32)

Changes camera angles during playback of a DVD containing multiple camera angles.

4SUBTITLE button (33)

Turns on or off a DVD subtitle.

5TOP MENU button (23)

Displays the top menu of a DVD Audio disc or the title menu of a DVD Video disc on the TV screen.

6CURSOR (5/°/2/3) buttons (8, 18)

Used to select an item from a menu or on-screen display, or to change the setting of an item in the on-screen display.

Also, the 5/° buttons are used to adjust the TV volume, while 2/3 are used to change the TV channel.

7ENTER button (8)

Executes the selected item in a menu or on-screen display.

8ON SCREEN button (8)

Displays an on-screen display of the unit on the TV screen.

97 (CLEAR) button (20, 30) Stops playback.

Also used to erase all the programmed tracks for the program play.

08 (STROBE) button (20, 27, 28) Pauses playback.

Also, holding down this button displays nine continuous still pictures (STROBE function).

-4 (PREVIOUS) / ¢ (NEXT) buttons (20, 21, 24) Pressing the button during playback skips a chapter, title or track.

Holding down the button during playback advances or reverses playback rapidly.

Also used for the page selection of a menu screen for PBC of Video CDs.

=SHUTTLE knob (20, 28)

Performs rapid advance/reverse playback operations. Also used for slow-motion playback of a picture (for DVD Video/Video CD)

~Infrared signal-emitting window

Point this window toward the remote sensor on the front panel when pressing buttons.

!TV POWER button (18) Turns the TV on or off.

@TV-DVD switch (18, 22)

Selects the functions of the numeric, cursor and TV/VIDEO - CANCEL buttons to control the corresponding device.

#POWER button (19)

Turns the unit on or off (standby).

$TV/VIDEO - CANCEL button (18, 30)

Switches the TV input mode when the TV-DVD switch is set to TV.

Cancels the last selection of the program when the TV-DVD switch is set to DVD.

%RESUME button (21)

Used to resume playback from the point you interrupted playback last time.

^RETURN button (23)

Returns to the previous menu (for DVD Audio/DVD Video/ Video CD).

&PAGE button (38)

Turns the page of B.S.P. (still picture) for a DVD Audio disc.

*VFP button (35)

Used to adjust the picture character.

(AUDIO button (34)

Selects the audio (for DVD Video/DVD Audio/Video CD).

)3D PHONIC button (36)

Produces a simulated surround effect.

_MENU button (23)

Displays a DVD menu on the TV screen.

+ZOOM +/– buttons (28)

Zooms in or out the picture (for DVD Video/Video CD).

ÁDIGEST button (26)

Displays beginning scenes of each title, chapter or track on the TV screen (for DVD Video/Video CD).

ª3(SELECT) button (20, 23)

Starts playback. Also used as the SELECT button for PBC of Video CD discs.
