CLOSED-CAPTIONING

Some programs are closed captioned for the hearing impaired or hard of hearing. It works by rendering the audio of the program as text, usually near the bottom of the screen. Captions can be coloured and provide information on music and sound effects which may be crucial to the understanding of the programme. The Closed-Captioning feature (also known as subtitles) may be activated (or deactivated) by pressing the yellow key.

Troubleshooting: In some cases the closed-captioning will not appear. This means that the programme may actually not be captioned. For more information we recommend you the visit Australian Caption Centre website at www.auscap.com.au.

DIGITAL AUDIO

Some programs also include an additional sound track (known as language) such as Dolby Digital 2/0 or 5.1 sound. This may be toggled on and off by pressing the green key. The DOLBY logo will indicate when this is selected. The analogue audio output will also be lower. This is normal.
