5. INITIAL SETUP

CAUTION: Check your TV screen to determine the display format required and place the switch in that position before turning the receiver on. The format switch on the rear of the receiver must be in the correct position for your display. The on screen display or the picture may not appear if the wrong mode is selected.

When you turn on the HD Satellite Receiver for the first time, you will be asked if you want to set up DIRECTVProgramming.

To proceed with this process, follow the instructions on the screen. You should complete all the answers once this initial setup process starts.

This setup process will be displayed only once. Future setting changes can be made using the Menu system.

This means that you can change all the settings DIRECTV Initial Setup section of the main menu.

If you have chosen to subscribe to DIRECTV, you should contact DIRECTV at 1-800- DIRECTV(or 1-800-246-3288) and order programming.

When you order programming, you need to know your access card number. To get this num- ber, press MENU on the remote control, then select SYSTEM on the Menu. Select System Test on the screen, and you will see the Access Card Identifier. Another way to find the num- ber is to by taking out the access card and referring to the number written on it.
