Signal Strength

Shows you up to three signal strength bars for Satellite Networks A, B, and C, in order to help you adjust the dish to the correct position with the elevation, azimuth, and tilt values obtained from the Your Location menu. While the maximum signal strength is 100, there will be no apparent difference in picture quality between signal strengths of 60 to 85. The higher the signal, the less likely you are to experience degradation when it rains or snows.

A transponder is a receiver/transmitter on the satellite. It receives signals from DIRECTV and retransmits them to your dish. The Zenith HD Satellite Receiver is capable of displaying the signal strength of each transponder by using the following method.

To see the signal strength:

1.Press the Menu button on the Remote Control to display the on-screen menu.

2.Select the DIRECTV menu by pressing “ ” on the thumbstick on the remote control.

3.Scroll down to Initial Setup by using “DE” on the thumbstick.

4. Move the highlight to the right with “G” on the thumbstick to select Signal Strength.

5.Press “ ” and the pop-up dialogue box will be displayed.

6.Move the highlight to select the desired transponder.

7.Press “ ” to return to Signal Strength.

8.Select Channel Setup by using “DE” for the next step of initial setup.

NOTE

Although the initial setup is a sequential process from Select Dish to Channel Setup, each menu can be accessed independently.
