VR LIST

There are two ways to play back a disc in VR (Video Recording) format: ORIGINAL LIST and PLAY LIST. This feature is not available with non-VR format discs.

ORIGINAL LIST – Select this to play the originally recorded titles on the disc.

PARENTAL

Default setting: 8 ADULT

Some DVDs may have a parental level assigned to the complete disc or to certain scenes on the disc. This feature lets you set a playback limitation level.

The rating levels are from 1 to 8 and are country dependent. You can prohibit the playing of certain discs that are not suitable for your children or play certain discs with alternative scenes for certain discs.

1Press 5/to highlight a rating level for the disc inserted and press ENTER.

To disable parental controls and have all discs play, select 8 ADULT.

2Use the numeric keypad (0-9) to enter the six-digit password (see page 46).

DVDs that are rated above the level you selected will not play unless you enter the six-digit password.

Note

VCD, SVCD, and CD have no level indication, so the parental control function has no effect with these types of discs. This also applies to most illegal DVD discs.

Some DVDs are not encoded with a rating even though the movie rating may be printed on the disc cover. The rating level feature does not work for such discs.

3Press ENTER to select the function.

TITLE DIGEST – This function will display thumbnail pictures of titles on the screen. Up to six thumbnail pictures per page will be displayed.

In ORIGINAL LIST mode, the originally recorded titles on the disc will be displayed.

In PLAY LIST mode, every title in the play list will be displayed.

TITLE INTERVAL – This function will divide and display the contents of each title being played back in regular intervals, making it easy to preview the recording. Up to six thumbnail pictures per page will be displayed.

If the title being played back is short, the TITLE DIGEST function will be performed instead.
