Troubleshooting guide

Before requesting service, make the following checks. If you are in doubt about some of the check points, or if the solutions indicated in the chart do not solve the problem, refer to the “Customer Services Directory” on page 41 if you reside in the U.S.A., or refer to the “Product information” on page 41 if you reside in Canada. In other areas, consult your dealer for instructions. (Reference pages are shown in parentheses.)

The following do not indicate malfunction. pSound from the AC adaptor during recharging.

pThe battery pack warming up when recharging or during use.

pThe surface and area around the unit becoming warm when used for long periods.

Troubleshooting guide

Power

No power.

Unit turns off automatically.

Cannot charge or the [CHG] indicator fails to light.

Play time dramatically reduced after recharging.

Difficulty inserting the plug or the plug is loose when connecting Car DC Adaptor.

pCheck connections to the AC adaptor or battery pack. (8)

pYou cannot turn on the unit with the remote control if the unit is powered by the battery pack.

pThe unit has protection circuitry that is activated if it becomes too hot or too cold. The unit will not work if this occurs. Use the unit between 5 QC (41 QF) and 35 QC (95 QF).

pThe unit turns off after it has been stopped for about 15 minutes(5 minutes when the unit is powered by the battery pack) to conserve power. Turn the unit on again.

pThe battery pack can only be recharged when the unit is off.

pThe charging time increases when the temperature is too hot or too cold, and charging may not be possible under some circumstances.

pCheck connections to the AC adaptor or battery pack. (8)

pThe battery pack has reached the end of its service life (It can be recharged about 300 times).

pSet the plug switch to “N” (Narrow) or “W” (Wide) to adjust the plug size depending on the type of socket. (30)

No operation

No response when any buttons pressed.
No response when remote control buttons pressed.

You have forgotten your ratings password.

No picture or sound.

The contents of the SD card cannot be read.

pThis unit cannot play discs or cards other than the ones listed in these operating instructions. (10, 11)

pThe unit may not be operating properly due to lightning, static electricity or some other external factor. Turn the unit off and then back to ON. Alternatively, turn the unit off, disconnect the power source (AC or battery pack), and then reconnect it.

pCondensation has formed: Wait 1 to 2 hours for it to evaporate.

pCheck that the battery is installed correctly. (7)

pThe battery is depleted: Replace it with new one. (7)

pPoint the remote control at the remote control sensor and operate. (7)

pWhile stopped, press and hold [] and [ ] on the unit and then also press and hold [ , ON] on the unit until “Initialized” disappears from the screen. Turn the unit off and on again. All settings will return to the default values.

pCheck that the disc has something recorded on it.

pThe card format is not compatible with the unit. (The contents on the card may be damaged.) Format using a Panasonic SD multi camera, DVD recorder or similar device in FAT 12 system or FAT 16 system based on SD Memory Card specifications. (11)

pThe card contains a folder structure and/or file extensions that are not compatible with this unit.
