Putting Batteries in the Remote Control

Remove the battery compartment lid on the bottom of the

 

 

remote control by pressing the tab, then lifting the lid.

Place two AA batteries inside the battery compartment

 

with their + and – ends aligned as indicated.

Replace the battery compartment lid.

 

 

Battery Safety

 

 

Battery Usage CAUTION - To prevent battery leakage that may

result in bodily injury or damage to the unit:

 

Install ALL batteries correctly, with the + and - markings on the

 

battery aligned as indicated on the unit;

 

Do not mix batteries, for example, old with new or carbon with

 

 

alkaline; and

 

 

Remove batteries when the unit will not be used for a long time.

 

 

Using the Remote Control

Point the remote control at the VCR, then press the VCR but- ton, before using the remote control to operate the VCR.

Point the remote control at the TV, then press the TV button before using the remote control to operate the TV. Details are on pages 18 and 20-21.

Point the remote control at the Cable Box or Direct Broadcast System (DBS), then press the CBL/DBS button before using the remote control to operate the Cable Box or DBS. Details are on pages 19-21.

Recording Prevention

Video cassette tapes have record tabs to ensure you do not accidentally erase recordings.

To prevent recording, break off the tab with a screwdriver.

To allow recording, cover the hole with cellophane tape.

VCR maintenance

Use only tapes with the mark.

Remove any light adhesive stick-on notes from the video cas- sette tape before putting the tape in the VCR. Removable labels can jam the VCR.

The VCR requires periodic maintenance to maintain its excellent performance. This VCR has an Automatic Head Cleaner. However, you may have to replace the video heads eventually. Only an authorized service center should perform this service.
