Format A Disc

Some DVD-RAM/RW discs are unformatted.

Format the disc when you use an unformatted disc or you want to delete all recordings and data on the disc.

ATTENTION:

When a disc is formatted, all recordings and data are erased. It is impossible to restore them.

Never turn off the unit or disconnect the mains power cord while ANOW FORMATTING...B is displayed on the TV screen.

Turn on the unit.

Turn on the TV and select an input mode such as EXT1.

Load a DVD-RAM/RW disc to format.

Slide the TV/DVD switch to DVD.

1Press SET UP to access the Main Menu screen.

2Press selection keys to select ADVD SET UPB, then press

ENTER.

The confirmation screen appears.

SELECT WITH [CURSORS]

 

 

EXIT

SELECT

THEN PRESS [ENTER]

select AYESB, then press

 

 

 

 

ENTER.

 

 

 

The confirmation screen appears.

6Press selection keys to select AOKB, then press ENTER.

7Upon completing formatting, ACOMPLETEDB appears on the TV screen. Press ENTER to complete formatting.

8Press SET UP to return to the normal screen.

Format A DVD-RW Disc

1Perform steps 1 - 3 of AFormat A DVD-RAM DiscB as above before continuing.

2Press selection keys to select AFORMATB, then press ENTER. Press selection keys to choose AVR MODEB or AVIDEO MODEB, then press ENTER when ADISC WILL BE FORMATTEDB appears on the TV screen.

AVR MODEB:

To be chosen when you want to record, erase, or edit data on the disc repeatedly.

AVIDEO MODEB:

To be chosen when you want to erase all the data on the disc once played back to record new data, or play back the disc on other DVD players.

3Press selection keys to select AYESB, then press ENTER.

4Upon completing formatting, ACOMPLETEDB appears on the TV screen. Press ENTER to complete formatting.

5Press SET UP to return to the normal screen.

NOTES:

It is impossible to format Version 1.0 DVD-RW discs in Video mode.

It is impossible to format DVD-R discs.

All the titles on a disc will be deleted once the disc is formatted even if they are protected titles.
