Press the Number 4 button so that ON appears to the right of RECORD DEFEAT.

Press the STATUS/EXIT button.

Now, REC DEFEATED will flash on-screen when you press the REC(ord)/OTR button.

Helpful Hints

If you put the TV/VCR in Record Defeat mode after a timer record- ing has been programmed, the timer recording will not be carried out.

If you put the TV/VCR in Record Defeat mode, then try to program a timer recording, you will not be able to program a timer recording. VCR PROGRAM cannot be selected from the pop up menu.

To take the TV/VCR out of Record Defeat mode, repeat steps 1 - 2 above. At step 3, press the Number 4 button so that OFF appears to the right of RECORD DEFEAT on-screen. Press the STA- TUS/EXIT button.
