First Steps

This chapter gives the basic information needed to operate your camera, from inserting batteries to taking your first pictures. More detailed information on camera settings and on connecting your camera to a computer is given in the following chapter.

Putting Batteries in Your Camera

To insert batteries in your camera, you must first remove the battery cover. Slide the cover off as shown in the following illustration.

Next insert the batteries as shown below. Use only AA alkaline batteries.

Slide the battery cover back on, being careful not to catch your fingers in the latches. You should hear a “click” when the latches close.

Note: Make sure that the camera is off before changing the batteries.
