P MODE

P-Mode Flash

When the built-in flash is up or an attached accessory flash is on, it will fire each time the shutter is released. The camera’s automatic flash metering system will ensure proper exposure.

• Make sure your subject is within the flash range (p. 32).

PA/PS Mode

After the AE system has been activated, you can change the shutter speed or aperture selected by the camera. Creative program remains active until the display disappears.

While the aperture/shutter speed are displayed in P mode…

Turn the front control dial to change the shutter speed.

• Aperture is adjusted automatically.

Turn the rear control dial to change the aperture.

• Shutter speed is adjust- ed automatically.

The aperture and shutter speed change in 1/2 or 1/3 EV increments depending on the position of the exposure compensation dial.

Flash can not be used with the PA and PS modes.

-Built-in and accessory flashes will not fire when the PA and PS modes are active.

-PAand Ps modes can not be selected when the built-in flash is up or the accessory flash is on.

To cancel PA / Ps mode, press the exposure-mode dial lock-release button. It will also be cancelled 5 seconds after the display disap- pears, or immediately when the built-in flash is raised.

A MODE

In A mode (aperture priority), you select the aperture and the cam- era automatically sets the shutter speed required for proper exposure. Set the camera to A mode when you want to control the range of focus (depth-of-field) in an image.

1. While pressing the exposure- mode dial lock-release button, turn the exposure-mode dial to A.

2. Turn either control dial to select the aperture.

• The aperture setting changes in 1/2 or 1/3 EV increments depending on the position of the exposure compen- sation dial. See page 77.
