16X9 Mode

The camcorder has a 16X9 recording mode that lets you make recordings compatible with the 16X9 format. When 16X9 is activated, the camcorder records black bars at the top and bottom of the picture to produce the wide-screen effect. This is also known as “letter box” recording.

Standard Shape TV Screen

Do not use this mode unless you have a compatible 16X9 TV. When played on a regular TV, black bars appear in the picture.

1.Place the POWER switch to CAMERA. The power indicator will light and the camcorder will enter record pause.

2.Make sure SCENE SELECT AE dial is not set to AUTO.

3.Press MODE until 16X9 appears beside the F2 button in the display panel. F2 16X9 appears in the viewfinder.

4.Press F2 to activate the 16X9 mode. Black bars appear at the top and bottom of the picture in the viewfinder.

5.Press the F2 button again to turn off the 16X9 mode.

Note: When the SCENE SELECT AE dial is set to AUTO, the 16X9 mode will not operate.
