Use to make dialog stand out when watching TV or a movie (page 33).

STANDARD

Press for Standard decoding and to switch between the various 2Pro Logic II and (VSX- 516 model only) Neo:6 options (page 28).

ADVANCED SURR

Switches between the various surround modes (page 29).

ST/DIRECT/AUTO SURR

Switches between direct and stereo playback. Direct playback bypasses the tone controls for the most accurate reproduction of a source (page 30). Also selects the Auto Surround mode (Auto playback on page 28).

14PHONES jack

Use to connect headphones (when connected, there is no sound output from the speakers).

15 STANDBY/ON

16 DIMMER

Dims or brightens the display.

17 ANALOG ATT

Attenuates (lowers) the level of an analog input signal to prevent distortion.

18 MIDNIGHT/LOUDNESS

Switches to Midnight/Loudness listening (page 33).

19 SPEAKER IMPEDANCE

Use to change the speaker impedance setting (page 52).

20MUTE

21TUNER EDIT

Memorizes/names stations for recall (page 41).

22 TONE

Press this button to access the bass and treble controls, which you can then adjust with the MULTI JOG dial (page 33).

RETURN

Confirms and exits the current menu.
