08Using the tuner

2Press ‘T.EDIT’ (VSX-516 model) / (SHIFT +) TUNER EDIT (VSX-416 model).

A cursor appears at the first character position.

3Input the name you want then press ENTER. Names can be up to four characters long.

Use the MULTI JOG dial (front panel) or the ST +/– (VSX-516 model) / STATION +/– (VSX- 416 model) buttons (remote) to select characters, and ENTER to confirm. If no character is input, a space is input.

Tip

Once you have named a station preset, you can press (SHIFT +) TUNER DISP (VSX-516 model) / DISPLAY (VSX-416 model) when listening to a station to switch the display between the name and the frequency.

Listening to station presets

You will need to have some presets stored to do this. See Saving station presets on page 41 if you haven’t done this already.

1Press AM or FM to select the tuner.

2Press (SHIFT +) CLASS (VSX-516 model) / CLASS (VSX-416 model) to select the class in which the station is stored.

Press repeatedly to cycle through classes A, B and C.

3Press ST+/– (VSX-516 model) / STATION +/– (VSX-416 model) to select the station preset you want.

Changing the frequency step

If you find that you can’t tune into stations successfully, the frequency step may not be suitable for your country/region. Here’s how to switch the setting:

1 Switch the receiver into standby.

2 On the front panel, press STANDBY/ ON while you press and hold the TUNER EDIT button.

The channel tuning step alternates between 10K STEP and 9K STEP each time you do this.
