You should always use the cluster name instead of the node name to connect to the Data Agent. Using the cluster name to connect to the Data Agent ensures that the Administra- tor can always connect to the Data Agent regardless of which server is running the Data Agent. You can use one of three methods to specify the cluster name to the Data Adminstrator:
‡Create a .host file in your home directory containing the name of the cluster.
‡Create a different file with the cluster name in a directory other than your home direc- tory, and specify the location of the file using the RAID_ARRAY_HOSTS variable.
‡If the previous two options are not available, specify the cluster name in the Data Administrator’s Host Administration window.
Refer to the Dell OpenManage Data Agent Installation and Operation Guide and the Dell OpenManage Data Administrator Installation and Operation Guide for instructions on using the Dell OpenManage Data Agent and the Data Administrator.

To ensure that the Data Supervisor can always connect to the Data Agent, regardless of which node is running the Data Agent, the Data Supervisor needs to connect to the Data Agent using the cluster name instead of the node name.
Before you can run the Data Supervisor application program, you must know the name associated with the storage processor (SP) that Data Supervisor will manage. To get the device name and then run Data Supervisor, use the following procedure:
1.Verify that the Dell OpenManage Data Agent service is running.
2.Go to the Dell OpenManage CLI program directory, and type the following command: omcli
For hostname, type the name of the cluster.
The output from the command lists the SP devices and their node names. The device name is the name labeled "Node" for each SP device.
3.Start the Supervisor application.
A query window opens with the following message:
Enter the "hostname devicename”
For hostname, type the name of the cluster and for devicename, type the device name reported by the omcli command.
Refer to the Dell OpenManage Data Supervisor Installation and Operation Guide for spe- cific instructions on using the Dell OpenManage Data Supervisor.
