More on Entering Numbers & Letters

As described above, after pressing “edit”, the menu will display “Enter Speed Dial Number 1” and the curser will flash below it. To enter a number or a letter, press the button desired. Selecting a number or letters works the same in Speed Dial as it does with entering a Directory entry.

For example, press “2”, and the letter “A” will appear. Every 2 seconds, the cursor flashes. If the “2” is NOT pressed again before the curser flashes, the phone will accept the “A” as the entry and move to the next position. To obtain a different letter/number associated with the “2” for example “b” or “c”, then press “2” again before the curser flashes. The number “2”, or the capital letters "A”, “B”, C” can also be obtained by pressing the "2" again. For other letters, please look at the keypad i.e. the “3” button can be used to enter “d”, “e”, “f”, the number “3”, or the capital letters “D”, “E”, “F”.

Please note that these letters/numbers are shown at the bottom of the display i.e. press “2” and “abc2ABC” will appear. One of these letters/numbers will be highlighted. The highlight will change when “2” is pressed again. The highlight indicates which letter will be entered. As stated in the previous paragraph, when the correct letter/number is displayed, stop pressing the “2” button and wait for the phone to accept it then the curser will move to the next position. Repeat the process of entering a number or letter.

Press the “erase” button if a mistake is entered, which is the right soft key button. Pressing the erase button will remove one letter from the entered string at a time. Press the “>” button for the options to “clear”, (Left soft key button) or “cancel”, (right soft key button). Pressing “clear” will completely erase the entry and position the curser in the 1st position of the string.
