Removing the service cover

Remove the service cover to access the memory module slot, hard drive, regulatory label, and other components.

To remove the service cover:

1.Remove the battery (see Inserting or removing the battery on page 31).

2.With the battery bay toward you, slide the service cover release latch (1) to the left, remove the screw (if the optional screw is being used) (2), and then slide the release latch again (3) to release the service cover.

NOTE: If you want to use the optional screw, it is stored inside the service cover.

3.Slide the service cover toward the front of the computer (4), and then lift (5) to remove the service cover.

Replacing the service cover

Replace the service cover after accessing the memory module slot, hard drive, regulatory label, and other components.

To replace the service cover:

1.Tilt the service cover down to align the front edge of the service cover near the front edge of the computer (1).

2.Insert the alignment tabs (2) on the rear edge of the service cover with the notches on the computer.

3.Slide the service cover toward the battery bay until the service cover snaps into place.
