Using ExpressCards (select models only)

An ExpressCard is a high-performance PC Card that is inserted into the ExpressCard slot.

ExpressCards are designed to conform to the standard specifications of the Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA), but application software to use the device may be required.

NOTE: To conserve power, stop or remove an ExpressCard when it is not in use. If your ExpressCard is a network device, shut down the ExpressCard before removing it from your computer. To shut down the ExpressCard, right-click the Network Connection icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar, and then disable the network connection. For more information, see Using the operating system controls on page 15, and refer to the ExpressCard manufacturer's instructions.
