CORDING FOOT

WIRED EDGE FABRIC

FABRIC:

Medium weight cotton 3” X 18”

NEEDLES:

80/12 Universal

THREAD:

2 cones of serger thread

 

1 cone of Woolly Nylon

 

28 gauge floral wire

Additions

Thread the serger for a 3-thread Overlock stitch using the Center Needle. Use the Woolly Nylon in the Upper Looper.

Turn the Stitch Selection Dial to “C” on the Stitch Display Panel.

Adjust the Stitch Length to 1.75

Pull the Stitch Selection Lever/Rolled Hem towards you.

Cutting Width should be at 2 (normal).

Attach the Cording Foot.

Raise the Presser Foot and swing it to the left.

Following the direction in the Instruction Manual for Cording Foot, insert the wire through the Cord Guide.

Return the Presser Foot to normal sewing position.

Place the fabric under the Presser Foot and serge along one 18” edge feeding the wire through the Presser Foot as you sew.

Use Wire Cutters to cut the wire. DO NOT USE THE SERGER KNIVES.

Repeat for the other 18” edge of the fabric.

Return the Stitch Selection Lever/Rolled Hem to normal sewing position (away from you). Return Stitch Length to normal.

Secure the thread tails with a Seam Sealant. When the sealant is dry, cut the thread tails. Use wire cutters to cut the wire.

Tie the wired fabric into a bow.

Mount the sample on the next page.
