To Thread the Shuttle

Hold the shuttle between the thumb and fin- gers of the left hand as shown in Fig. 7. Place the bobbin into the shuttle with the thread drawing toward the right from the side of the bobbin nearest you, as shown in Fig. 7.

Place the forefinger of the left hand on the end of the bobbin and draw the thread down- ward into the long slot in the shuttle as far as it will go, as shown in Fig. 8.

Then draw the thread straight upward and under the tension spring as shown in Fig. 9, until the bobbin begins to unwind.
