Appliance details
Supporting the exhaust vent system and the use of an external condensate trap
External condensate traps
B A condensate trap must be used in any sidewall exhaust vent installations when the total vent length is ≥ 5 ft (1.5 m) OR the vent pipe passes through an unheated space (below 60F). See diagram below for connecting a condensate tube.
B A condensate trap must be used for any vertical exhaust installations. See diagram below for connecting a condensate tube.
BWhen installing the condensate tubing at the exhaust collar (see diagram below), be sure to form a trap by means of a 3" (76.2 mm) loop filled with water. This tube must be 3/8" ID high temperature silicone for at least the first 6 inches (152 mm) and attached with a gear clamp or hose clamp. The condensate must be disposed of according to local regulations.
The venting materials and accessories
irequired to properly install the water heater are available from CEC and their distributors.

If the total horizontal exhaust vent length in a side wall installation is greater than or equal to 5 feet (1.5m), a condensate drain tube must be attached to the exhaust collar.
