Vernatherm™ Mixing Valve Maintenance and Service

*Repair kit S45-049 is pre-packaged and includes O-Ring, Flip Ring, Power Element and Spring.

Maintenance Instructions

1.Disassemble the Vernatherm™ Valve as shown, being careful not to damage the power element. Replace the element, if necessary.

2.If necessary, remove the old flip ring and replace with a new ring.

NOTE: An old or worn flip ring may cause temperature fluctuation and/or water chatter.

3.Reassemble the power element and valve body. Apply grease to the main valve slide and gently ease into position, rotating so that grease is applied to the flip ring. Do not force the slide as this may push the flip ring from its position. To test, rotate the slide; a slight drag should be felt when correctly installed.

4.Reassemble the valve.

When servicing the valve, make sure it is installed in the correct position. The most common error occurs when the valve is installed in the reversed position, that is, the hot line is connected to the cold line and the cold is connected to the hot.

NOTE: A red marking indicates the hot side of the valve.

The table below lists conditions that occur when the valve is installed correctly, and when it is in the reversed position.

SS-2/IR/JUV, SS-2/IR/STD specifications

The Bradley Smoker SS-2/IR/STD and SS-2/IR/JUV are notable innovations in the world of smoking and curing meat, offering enhanced features and technology that cater to both amateur and seasoned culinary enthusiasts.

At the heart of these models is the electric smoking system, which integrates cutting-edge technology to deliver consistent smoke and temperature for optimal flavor and preservation of food. The SS-2 series incorporates the renowned Bradley smoking technology that uses special wood bisquettes, which are designed to create clean smoke without the bitterness associated with traditional wood smoking. This results in a more refined taste and uniform smoke distribution, allowing users to achieve the desired flavor profile in their meats, fish, and vegetables.

One of the standout features of the SS-2/IR/STD and SS-2/IR/JUV is the digital control interface. This user-friendly panel allows for precise temperature adjustments and smoke settings. Smokers can easily set their preferred cooking and smoking times, enabling them to multitask and engage in other activities while their food cooks to perfection. The intuitive display provides real-time information, which simplifies the smoking process and enhances the user experience.

In terms of construction, both models boast a robust and durable design, ensuring they can withstand repeated use in various outdoor conditions. The insulated interior walls maintain consistent temperatures, making it easy to control the environment inside the smoker. This thermal efficiency is especially crucial during prolonged smoking sessions, allowing for even cooking and flavor infusion.

Additionally, the SS-2/IR/JUV model features an innovative "juvenile" smoking function, designed specifically for lightly smoking delicate foods such as fish and poultry. This setting allows for a milder smoke flavor, perfect for those who prefer subtler taste profiles, while still taking advantage of the benefits of traditional smoking methods.

Both models also come with ample smoking space, enabling users to prepare large quantities of food simultaneously. The use of multiple racks provides versatility, accommodating different food sizes and types.

In conclusion, the Bradley Smoker SS-2/IR/STD and SS-2/IR/JUV stand out in the market for their blend of traditional smoking principles and modern technological advancements. Their ease of use, robust construction, and innovative features make them excellent choices for anyone looking to explore the art of smoking and curing meats, while ensuring a flavorful and satisfying outcome.
