6Type ‘config’ and press . Line by line, you will be presented with a series of setting options with possible responses in (round brackets) and any

default values shown in [square brackets]. Enter the required information for

each line and press . Alternatively, to accept a default setting, just press

.

IP auto configuration (none/dhcp/bootp) [dhcp] : - select ‘none’.

IP address [192.168.1.22] : - enter an appropriate IP address for the SmartView World.

NetMask [255.255.255.0] : - enter an appropriate Subnet mask.

Gateway (0.0.0.0 for none) [0.0.0.0] : - if appropriate, enter an appropriate Gateway address.

Enable IP Access Control (yes/no) [no] : - this setting switches IP packet filtering on or off. It is mainly used to re-enable access after a faulty IP access control configuration has been activated (see Security settings in the Configuration chapter for more details).

LAN interface speed (auto/10/100) [auto] : - choose an appropriate Ethernet speed or select ‘auto’.

LAN interface duplex mode (auto/half/full) [auto] : - choose an appropriate duplex setting or select ‘auto’.

7Once all details have been entered, confirm that they are correct. The IP section of SmartView World will store the new data and perform an internal reset. You can now power down the SmartView World and the computer and disconnect the serial link between them.

8Now proceed to the next stage To make the final IP port connection ð

To make the final IP port connection (stage 2 of 2)

1Ensure that power is disconnected from the SmartView World and all devices to be attached.

2There are two IP main connection methods: using Ethernet or using the serial port (with external modem/ISDN adapter). Both methods are outlined below:

Ethernet connection

aConnect a suitable twisted pair cable to the RJ45 socket (labelled ‘ETHERNET’) on the front panel of the SmartView World.

bConnect the other end of the twisted pair cable to an Ethernet hub running a 10Mbps or 100Mbps.

Serial port connection

aConnect a serial (non-crossover) cable to the 9-way D-sub socket (labelled ‘CFG/MODEM’) on the front panel of the SmartView World.

bConnect the other end of the serial cable to a suitable external modem or ISDN adapter.

3You can now proceed to the IP configuration stage IP configuration panel in the Configuration chapter.
