Controls and Power Failure

In the event of power loss or controller failure with antenna deployed, the following pro- cedure will allow the antenna to be returned manually to stow position.

Notice!

Stowing antenna without power requires two personnel to safely return antenna to stowed position. Failure to follow this requiement may cause personal injury and/or damage to antenna.

To return azimuth to a stow heading, first determine direction of rotation to return anten- na to stow position.

Locating the brake cover, on the azimuth drive motor, located on the free hanging end of the drive motor assembly (Figure 6) is the brake cover. Carefully remove the brake cover attached with two wing nuts, being careful to retain the nylon washers under the wing nuts (required for watertight seal).

With the brake assembly exposed, locate the manual release screws (2) on the brake assembly. The brake can be released by turning the manual release screws counter- clockwise, allowing the motor to free-wheel.
