Special Keys on Your Keyboard

Your computer keyboard contains certain special keys that typewriter keyboards don’t have. Many of these keys allow you to give commands to the computer without using the mouse. For example, in many application programs, pressing the x (Command) key at the same time as the Q key lets you quit a program.

The following table describes what you can do with the special keys on your keyboard. The special keys on your keyboard depend on the model of keyboard you have; some keyboards do not have all the keys listed.
