Section 8: Messaging

This section describes how to send or receive different types of messages. It also includes the features and functionality associated with messaging.

Types of Messages

Your phone provides the following message types:

Text Messages

Multimedia Messages

IM Messages

Creating and Sending Text Messages

The Short Message Service (SMS) allows you to send and receive short text messages to and from other mobile phones. To use this feature, you must subscribe to your service provider’s message service.

The Message icon ( ) displays when you receive new text messages. When the memory is full, an error message displays and you cannot receive any new messages. Use the Delete option in each message box to delete obsolete messages.

1.In Idle mode, press Menu Messaging Create New

Message and press the Select soft key or the key. The Create New Message screen displays.

Tip: Press the Up arrow on the Navigation key to access the Create New Message screen.

2.In the text field, begin creating your text message.

3.Press the Options soft key when you are finished writing the message. Choose from the following options:

Text: (appears only after you enter or Insert some message text) turns Text Selection On or Off. With Text Selection On, you can highlight message text, then Cut, Copy, Paste, or Remove the text before sending the message.

Add Item: allows you to add an image, sound or video clip to your message.

Important!: Adding a photo, audio clip, or video clip to a text message changes the message from a text message to a multimedia message.

Create Item: allows you to temporarily exit from the current message and create either a new photo, video clip, or audio clip for addition to your current message.

Take Photo: allows you to temporarily exit the message, take a photo with phone’s camera, and then add the new photo to your message.
