DUAL RANGE GEARING (FIGURE G) (BDGL1800 ONLY)

The dual range feature of the BDGL1800 allows you to shift gears for greater versatility.

To select low speed, high torque setting (position 1), turn tool off and permit to stop. Slide gear shifter button (13) forward towards the chuck.

To select the high speed, low torque setting (position 2), turn tool off and permit to stop. Slide gear shifter button (13) back (away from chuck). NOTE: Do not change gears when tool is running. If you are having trouble changing gears, make sure that the gear shifter button is either completely pushed forward or completely pushed back.

TORQUE CONTROL (FIGURE H)

This tool is fitted with a collar (3) to select the operating mode and to set the torque for tightening screws. Large screws and hard workpiece materials require a higher torque setting than small screws and soft workpiece materials.

For drilling in wood, metal and plastics, set the collar to the drilling position symbol TORQUE CONTROL (FIGURE H) .

For screwdriving, set the collar to the desired setting. If you do not yet know the appropriate setting, proceed as follows:

Set the collar to the lowest torque setting.

Tighten the first screw.

If the clutch ratchets before the desired result is achieved, increase the collar setting and continue tightening the screw. Repeat until you reach the correct setting. Use this setting for the remaining screws.

KEYLESS CHUCK (FIGURE I)

To insert a drill bit or other accessory:

1.Grasp the rear half of the chuck (4) with one hand and use your other hand to rotate the front half in the counterclockwise direction, as viewed from the chuck end.

2.Insert the bit or other accessory fully into the chuck, and tighten securely by holding the rear half of the chuck and rotating the front portion in the clockwise direction as viewed from the chuck end.

KEYLESS CHUCK (FIGURE I)WARNING: Do not attempt to tighten drill bits (or any other accessory) by gripping the front part of the chuck and turning the tool on. Damage to the chuck and personal injury may occur when changing accessories.

OPERATING THE LASER

Your drill is equipped with a laser which is turned on and off separately from the tool. OPERATING THE LASER WARNING: NEVER aim the beam at a workpiece with a reflective surface. Bright

shiny reflective sheet steel or similar reflective surfaces are not recommended for laser use. Reflective surfaces could direct the beam back toward the operator.

SWITCHING THE LASER ON AND OFF (FIGURE J) CAUTION: LASER RADIATION. AVOID DIRECT EYE EXPOSURE. Do not stare into the laser light source. Never aim light at another person or object other than the workpiece. Laser light can damage your eyes.

SETTING THE DIRECTION OF THE BEAM (FIGURE K) WARNING: DO NOT use tinted glasses to enhance the laser light. Tinted glasses will reduce overall vision for the application and interfere with the normal operation of the tool.

SWITCHING THE LASER ON AND OFF (FIGURE J)

To turn the laser on, slide the laser on/off button (6) to the (I) position.

To turn the laser off, slide the laser on/off button (6) to the (0) position.

SETTING THE DIRECTION OF THE BEAM (FIGURE K)

The laser beam can be set for both horizontal and vertical leveling applications.

To change the laser line projection, move the laser direction actuator (7) in the direction that you want the laser line to project.

NOTE: Laser will not work if the drill is inverted.
