About YourWarranty

Briggs & Stratton welcomes warranty repair and apologizes to you for being
inconvenienced. Any Authorized ServiceDealer may perform warranty repairs. Most
warrantyrepairs are handled routinely, but sometimes requests for warranty service may
not be appropriate. To avoid misunderstanding which might occur between the customer
andthe dealer, listed below are some of the causes of engine failure that the warranty
does not cover.
Normal wear: Engines, like all mechanical devices, need periodic parts service and
replacement toperform well. Warranty will not cover repair when normal use has
exhaustedt he life of a part or an engine. Warrantywould not apply if engine damage
occurredbecause of misuse, lack of routine maintenance, shipping, handling,
warehousingor improper installation. Similarly, warranty is void if the serial number of the
enginehas beenremoved or t he engine has been altered or modified.
Impropermaintenance: The life of an engine depends upon theconditions under which
itoperates, and the care it receives. Some applications, suchas tillers, pumps and rotary
mowers, arevery oftenused in dusty ordirty conditions, whichcan c ause what appears
tobe premature wear. Such wear, when caused by dirt, dust, spark plug cleaning grit, or
otherabrasive material that has entered the engine because of improper maintenance, is
not coveredby warranty.

maintained.
5 Repairor adjustment of associated parts or assemblies such as clutches,
transmissions, remote controls, etc., which are not manufactured by Briggs &
Stratton.
6 Damageor wear to parts caused by dirt, whichentered the engine because of
improperair c leaner maintenance, re-assembly,or use of a non-original air cleaner
element orcartridge. At recommended interv als, clean and/or replace the filter as
statedin the Operator ’s Manual.
7 Parts damagedby over -speeding,or overheating caused by grass, debris, or dirt,
whichplugs orclogs thec ooling fins, or flywheel area, or damage caused by
operatingt he engine in a confined area without sufficient ventilation. Clean engine
